コーエン兄弟監督の2000年公開の映画。時代設定は、1937年のミシシシッピー州の田舎が舞台のコメディー。大恐慌に喘ぐ時代、田舎町を脱走した囚人が珍道中を繰り広げる傑作。使われているフォントは、ウッドタイプを現代版にアレンジしたBrothers。O BrotherにCoen Brothers、そしてフォントがBrothersとは偶然ではないデザイナーの遊びごころが伺えます。
A 2000 movie directed by the Coen brothers. It is a comedy set in rural Mississippi in 1937. It is a masterpiece about a prisoner who escapes from a rural town and goes on a strange journey during the Great Depression. The font used is Brothers, a modern version of wood type, and it is no coincidence that O Brother, Coen Brothers, and the font is Brothers, which shows the designer's playful spirit.

Brotherは1999年リリースされたディスプレイ用のタイプフェイスです。デザインはJohn DownerによるものでEmigreからリリースされています。デザインのは19世紀から20世紀の変わり目のころのCOLE BROTHERS traveling Showというサーカスの鮮やかなクロモリゾグラフ（多色のリソグラフ）によるフライヤーのレターヘッドがインスピレーションのもとになっています。ウッドタイプやビクトリア時代のアメリカの雰囲気を現代的にアレンジしたい際に用いるととても重宝するフォントです。
Brother is display font that design by John Downer for Emigre 1999.The inspiration for Brothers came from a bright chromolithographed letterhead designed around the turn of the century for the COLE BROTHERS traveling shows.
Councilは1999年にリリースされたディスプレイ用のタイプフェイスです。emigreからリリースされ、BrotherをデザインしたJohn Downerが同じくデザインを行いました。ウッドタイプの特徴とレタリング由来のバランスが特徴のディスプレイフォントで、Downerがアンティークストアで買ったキャンディー缶に印刷されていたキャピタルレターから着想を得ています。その缶は帽子入れほどの大きさと形でJohn G. Woodward & Co. of Council Bluffs, Iowaのために1900年代初頭に作られたものだったそうです。ウッドタイプやビクトリア時代のアメリカを現代的にアレンジする際に用いると良いフォントです。
