Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick jointly created the original idea for this 1968 science fiction film, which was adapted for the screen by director Kubrick. The film is one of the greatest science fiction films ever made. It is a novel film that tells the story of the profound theme of the evolution of mankind and science, and the encounter of extraterrestrial intelligence, by omitting all explanatory details and focusing mainly on visual images. The mechanical expressions of the space exploration ship and base are futuristic to the point of fetishism, while the development of the story, the bed room, and the music are very classical, creating a parallel work of geometric futuristic expressions, while keeping a classical base. GIll Sans, the typeface used for the title, is a fascinating balance of classical and geometric expression.

Typeface

Gill Sans is a sans-serif typeface designed by Eric Gill and released by the British branch of Monotype from 1928 onwards.Gill Sans is based on Edward Johnston's 1916 "Underground Alphabet", the corporate font of London Underground. Gill's aim was to blend the influences of Johnston, classic serif typefaces and Roman inscriptions to create a design that looked both cleanly modern and classical at the same time.Gill Sans has influenced many other typefaces, and helped to define a genre of sans-serif, known as the humanist style.
